Forums for Collaborative Problem Solving
Improving the capacity and quality of collaborative problem solving.
The William D. Ruckelshaus Center provides analysis, training and infrastructure development to improve the collaborative problem solving capacity of parties and institutions across the state. Its role is to increase the capacity and capability of people to use collaborative processes to resolve existing disputes and be prepared to handle future conflicts.
The Center has provided training and capacity building services to the Washington State Attorney General’s office Natural Resources Division and to watershed Lead Entities (sponsored by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife).
At UW, Jerry Cormick teaches courses on negotiation and consensus building for enrolled students and for community members (through the Cascade Center for Public Service). A new course on conflict resolution will be offered in Winter 2007 by Jon Brock.
